January 2022
Tammy Dowley-Blackman Group, LLC is a suite of companies, including TDB Group Strategic Advisory (TDB Group), which focuses on providing management consulting services to corporate, government, nonprofit, and philanthropic sectors, while Looking Forward Lab (LFL) is a media company that designs and delivers a host of content and programming for the newest entrants into the workforce (Generation Z) and the companies that hire them.
Our TDB Group Strategic Advisory team enjoyed our 2021 collaborations, and we look forward to having the opportunity to continue to deliver solutions for complex issues side-by-side with our corporate, government, nonprofit, and philanthropic sector partners.
The last two years have been grueling for everyone. There isn’t a day that goes by that I am not faced with a team member, CEO, or board member who is excited by the incredible work they have the good fortune to be a part of, but also sometimes they are just inches away from breaking down into tears. I draw on my experience as a senior leadership member, CEO, board president, and strategic advisor to help them assess the issue, map the possibilities, consider possible pathways forward, and establish accountability with meaningful benchmarks. There are days it all comes together, and there are others when we end the Zoom call sad that we didn’t get to work in person, and we are not sure if we can do it another day. I admit, there are mornings when I turn on the computer for the first of back-to-back Zoom meetings, and my breath catches wondering if anyone will show up. I worry everyone will have decided it is just too difficult. Thankfully, our partners and our team, despite juggling children, elders, illness, and losses start to appear on screen ready to once again advance transformation and impact.
In 2021, our portfolio of work included a deep dive into helping non-partisan organizations fight for our collective democracy; while advising corporate, government, nonprofit sector teams in their efforts to center racial equity to build and enhance their benefits, hiring, volunteer recruitment, and vendor policies. In addition, we helped partners build and strengthen their infrastructure via our proprietary TDB Group Truss Framework. In this work, we embedded our team long-term with our nonprofit and philanthropic sector partners to help them prepare for capital investment as well as we supported significant Boards of Directors, CEO, and Management Team development by helping them to identify and cultivate confidence and leadership skills to meet the needs of these challenging times.
In 2022, we will continue this work with existing and new TDB Group Strategic Advisory partners. In addition, we will soon formally announce the launch of new content and programming from Looking Forward Lab.
It is truly a privilege and honor to do what we do. We will keep showing up each day to help our partners do their best work. I am sending good wishes for an amazing new year for all of us.
